10 minute Journal: Run streak keeping me in check - day 266

Setting the timer for 10 minutes. No proofreading. So dont get mad about errors. Thanks

So, just I would do a 10 minute journal and talk about this run streak. We are at day 266. Thats 266 days of consecutive running. The shortest run was around 3 miles but typically I am averaging between 7-10 miles every day. Usually around 50-70 miles per week.

Some questions I have been asked.

Why are you doing this? Good question, I really dont know. It started with some other friends doing it, and I liked the idea. Its something that keeps me consistent. I am a very routine orientated person, I need consistency. I am not training for anything specific like I used to. This allows me to mindlessly just go out and run. I am loving the idea of not having any pressure that I put on myself to perform anymore. Its something that keeps me in check.. Some days I feel great, so I run 10+ miles in the morning, and more in the evening.. Some days I feel like shit and I dont want to run, so I commit to a 3 mile run, usually once I am out the door, and moving, that 3 mile run turns into something longer.

I am at a point now where I feel like I cant stop. I want to keep going. I have developed habit of running first thing in the morning, no matter what, even if it means I have to wake up at 3am to get it done. I love it. I dont know what else to say. Without this streak, and nothing that I care about really training for, I think I would turn lazy, and let myself go. This allows me to really stick to something, its the one thing I do no matter what. I dont know how long it will last, but we will see!

I think everyone should try something like this. It teaches you that you should always give yourself a chance. The hardest part of so many endeavors is just getting started. That doesn’t just apply to running.

I would love to hear other peoples thought on this.. What are your daily habits? That you do every day?

Ive got 3 minutes left on my timer and I dont know what else to say. It doesn’t really matter. It feels good to type random stuff on paper.

Other than the running streak, Harvey got to stay in a rooftop tent for the first time this weekend for Labor Day in California. I think we will be doing a lot more of that! Cant wait.

Its time for bed now. I hope you enjoyed my random rambling. If you want to follow my run streak on strava, HERE is a link to my page.
